Bentota Tour from Colombo

To start off your Bentota Aqua day, your assigned driver will pick you up at your hotel in Colombo. Then it is a short trip to Bentota in an air-conditioned vehicle. The first stop in the journey is the Madu River safari. This is a relaxing boat ride in a lagoon filled with rich biodiversity.It’s famous for its natural mangrove caves and forests. Some of the few stops in this boat safari are the Cinnamon Island, Koth-Duwa Temple and the Fish Therapy .The Cinnamon Island is a stop in this boat ride. You will be able to understand about the local cinnamon manufacturing and even purchase some authentic cinnamon infused products. The temple located at “Koth-Duwa” is another interesting sight in this safari. You will get to end the boat ride by experiencing the famous ‘Fish Therapy.’ There are small tubs of water filled with small fish called “ Gurra Rufa” to do these fish pedicures. You can also purchase a ‘Kirala’ - Mangrove Apple fruit juice, a unique experience offered in this boat safari.

After this you can start with your water sports. There are many places amidst the bank of the Bentota River which offers such sports. This package includes a 3 km Banana Boat ride, a 3 km Sofa Boat ride, and a 3 km Jetski ride. You will receive a life -jacket and experienced staff at this place to guide you through the activities. Snorkeling, Flyfish Ride, Water Skiing , Speed Boat Ride, WindSurfing, Kayaking and Wakeboarding are some of the other activities you can do. For these activities you can pay directly and experience them.

With this you can head onto the lunch break. This is not included in the package. It needs to be paid and bared separately. There is a wide variety of restaurants nearby with fresh seafood and local delights. You can purchase your lunch accordingly.

The next stop would be at the Sea Turtle Hatchery. It’s a short ride from the Water Sports Activities area. You can find different species of turtles here. Most are rescued as they are in danger of losing their life to the local fishing industry. The guide will explain how these turtles are taken care of here along with the rehabilitation process. Sometimes the workers will allow visitors to touch the turtles . It should be followed gently and with precaution.If you are lucky you will be able to witness the release of baby turtles into the sea.

Then you can take the remaining time to enjoy the sun and sea at Bentota Beach. It’s a great way to relax by the beach or catch some waves. A good book will pair well with the sea breeze. Now you can come back to the vehicle. From here you will start the journey back to Colombo. The Benota adventure will end once you come safely to your hotels.
