  • A foreign citizen who has been awarded temporary resident status at the POE by a BSO or through an earlier in-Canada extension can request to have their status extended beyond the initial time.
  • The IRCC officer may issue a visitor record, a document used to lawfully extend a foreign national's temporary residence status in Canada if the foreign national requests for an extension of their stay in Canada and fulfils the eligibility requirements as a visitor.
  • An application for a visitor record must be submitted to the IRCC by the temporary resident at least thirty days before their status expires.
