Required documents list
Documents must be original.
Letters from companies, universities, schools, colleges, and so on, must be on official headed paper and show the organizations’:
- Full name
- Full postal address
- Telephone number (fixed/land line – not mobile/cell phone)
- Website address
- Email address (Yahoo and Hotmail email addresses are not accepted)
- A contact person’s name and title/position
- Written signature of an authorized representative (an electronic signature is not accepted).
Please make sure to provide clear and legible, authorized copies (if applicable) of the following documents. If the documents are in a language other than English, such as Sinhala, you need to provide the English translation of them. You can get it translated by a sworn translator.
Depending on your purpose of visit you may need to provide additional documents than what is mentioned below. Providing additional documents which act in support of your visit is beneficial as it gives the immigration officers a clear idea of your exact purpose of visit. It can also clear out any doubts that may arise regarding the main documents you submit.
Important: Please provide accurate information in your application. Providing false or misleading information can get your visa refused and you may not have the chance to appeal the visa. In some cases you may be getting blocked from applying for Irish visa for 5 years.
- Application summary form (from AVATs)
- Passport/s or Travel Document (The passport should have at least two blank pages and a minimum validity of 9 months from the applied date).
- 2 X passport photographs (taken within the last 3 months)
- Proof of fee payment/fee exemption
- All previous passports (In the case of a lost passport, you must provide a police report of the complaint filed for the lost/stolen passport)
- Biometrics (where required)
If you are residing in a country outside of the country which issued your passport or travel document you must submit: - A full color copy of your residence permission (If you have a residence card you must photocopy both sides), and o You must have 3 months permission to remain in that country after the date you plan to leave Ireland.
Documentation on previous visa refusals, Other immigration Issues (including deportation, overstaying) and Criminal Convictions. You may submit a police report if applicable.
Travel/ Medical Insurance if required
Application Letter (Signed and dated)
The application letter you submit must contain the following details.
- Your full contact details
- Visa application number
- All details of your family members in Ireland, in the UK, in any EU/EEA member State
- The reason for your proposed trip to Ireland,
- A commitment from you that you will: Obey the conditions of your visa in full
- Not rely on public services (for example, public hospitals) or become a burden on the State
- Leave Ireland before your immigration permission expires
An Itinerary
An itinerary gives a basic overview of your plans during your visit. Your visa agents can assist you with creating an itinerary. Depending on your travel dates and the period of travel you should make an itinerary that is practical, taking both time and other factors into consideration. It is best to mention your mode of transportation as well in your itinerary (Eg : Visit place X from our hotel by a Taxi)
Please keep in mind that, if your travel path involves other countries, you must show that you have the necessary visas in your passport for those countries. If you do not, you must explain why. The visa regulations vary from each country therefore, you need to comply to the visa regulations of the country/s you intend to travel during your trip.
Proof of accommodation
Printed reservation confirmations (emails or letters) which must show the dates you intend to stay in each place.
If you are staying with your family or friends, you must.
State who you are staying with and relationship (Eg: Birth certificate or other document/s to prove your connection).
Letter from friend/family stating that they are willing to provide accommodation. If your friend/family will provide you transport/ food as well you will need to refer to sponsor documents.
A utility bill as your address proof in Sri Lanka. (Eg: Water bill, electricity bill of your residence).
If you are employed you must provide.
- Recent pay slips (past 3-6 months)
- Letter of leave with approval by the company
- Your leave dates must be mentioned in the letter
- Annual salary
If you are a student you must provide.
- A copy of your student ID and any other documents proving that you are a student
- How many years you have remaining in your course/program
- A letter from the institution head/ principal that you are granted leave
Finances
Bank Statements. You must provide 6 months bank statements. If there are any discrepancies (Loans) you must provide valid proof as to the reason for the loan. Please note that a loan is considered as a liability and does NOT in any way reflect your financial stability. Obtaining loans for a visa is not acceptable as it shows financial instability. If you have received large amounts of funds apart from your income/s (preferably amounts that are higher than 100,000LKR) you must provide valid proof of how you received these funds. (Eg: In the case of a sale of a vehicle you can provide the valid documents and proof of sale.)
Sponsor
If someone else is funding your trip please be sure to provide :
- Sponsor’s 6 months bank statements
- Evidence of sponsor’s income (their 3 most recent payslips, their most tax document for example, end of year return, employment detail summary)
- A letter from the sponsor’s employer that confirms they are employed
- Evidence of Sponsor’s family circumstances
- Evidence of how you are known to them (for example: if you are related you can provide birth/marriage certificates. Evidence of ongoing contact, you can use photos as well)
- A letter of support with the application outlining the reason why they are funding your trip. (This must include all costs they will cover, in euro)
- If your sponsor is a business, or an organization, you must provide evidence of their finances, how they know you, and why they are funding your trip.
Applicants under 18 years of age :-
If you are making an application on behalf of someone who is under 18 years of age then you will need to provide additional documents to us. Please refer to the following information.
