The tour starts with our driver picking you up at your hotel in Colombo . You can enjoy a comfortable ride in the air-conditioned vehicle as we head towards hill country. First ,we will start with visiting the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. With roughly around 70 elephants taken care of here, it is a very beautiful place. You can see how these gentle giants are fed and bathed in the “Maha Oya”. This will also be a great chance to learn about animal welfare and how these elephants are treated.
Next we will head towards the Ambuluwawa Tower. This is a must visit with its famous spiral stairway that leads to a panoramic view of nearby landscapes. You will be able to see forests, waterfalls and the beautiful mountain ranges from here. Ambuluwawa is surrounded by Piduruthalagala, the Bible Rock , Adams Peak and also the Knuckles mountains. At the top of it you can have a 360 view of the surroundings.
Now we can head for a lunch break at a local restaurant. This is optional and its cost is not included in the package. This is customized according to your likes. Contact us at Arabiers to arrange this accordingly.
Then we will head towards the Royal Botanical Gardens Located in the heart of Peradeniya. With different species of flowers and trees , the garden is fully in bloom during the months of February to July. It is renowned for its collection of Orchid flowers. The towering palm trees from the entrance adds a regal elegance to this place.The garden's beautiful layout and diverse flora make it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll.
Our next stop is the Temple of the Tooth Relic. This is one of the most sacred places for any buddhist in Sri Lanka. This is the sacred grounds where the left Canine tooth of Gautama Buddha is enshrined.The intricate architecture elevates the regality of this place. It contains a museum which will help you understand its historical significance. You will also be able to see the stuffed body of ‘Raja’, the carrier of the sacred relic casket in kandy processions for nearly 50 years.
Before the tour ends you will be able to enjoy a ‘Cultural Dance Show’ as well. This will include a traditional kandyan dancing show. The most popular dance form is the “Ves Dance”. The evening will be filled with traditional music and costumes that showcases the heritage of Sri Lanka.
Finally you will be escorted back to the vehicle. From here will start the journey back to Colombo. The Kandy tour will end once you arrive safely at your hotel.
