Sri Lanka 10 Days Itinerary

Starting from Day Three to Day Five we will be spending the nights in the hill country of Sri Lanka–Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Ella. Therefore, post having breakfast at the hotel in Sigiriya on Day Two we will start heading towards Kandy.

On all three days we will be making a few stops on the way to the destination cities to explore some iconic locations scattered around.

Peradeniya Botanical Garden & Hakgala Botanical Garden

Sri Lanka, famous for its rich biodiversity, colourful flowers and green nature, owns several beautiful botanical gardens. We will be exploring two of the most visited Botanical Gardens in Sri Lanka–Peradeniya Botanical Garden and the Hakgala Botanical Garden. We will come across the Peradeniya Garden on the way to Kandy and once we reach Nuwara Eliya we will drop by the Hakgala Garden. Also these gardens will be the best location to relax and roam around capturing picturesque photos with nature as a backdrop.

Visit a Tea Estate and Tea Factory

Recognized as ‘Little England’ for its cool and misty climate, Nuwara Eliya is one of the must visit destinations cities in Sri Lanka. One prominent aspect visible at Nuwara Eliya is the long stretches of lush tea plantations. Visiting one of those tea plantations and visiting a tea factory to learn about tea production is an experience you cannot miss in Sri Lanka. Also be ready to enjoy a freshly brewed cup of tea at the tea factory.

Ambuluwawa Tower

Nestled close to Gampola town, Ambuluwawa Tower is significant for its unique stair case built outside the tower. The 360 degree panoramic views it offers from the top is another highlight of this popular tourist hotspot. Architectural styles utilized in this tower include a blend of Buddhist, Hindu and Islamic influences, thus recognizing it as a multi cultural landmark. Not only that, the drive that leads to this tall tower on top of the Ambuluwawa mountain will offer scenic views of the surroundings.

Exploring the Spice Industry and the Gem Industry

Kandy–one of the cultural capitals in Sri Lanka –is significant as a city of religious and historical importance. Not only that, this city is also famous for its spice cultivation and gem industry. If you are interested in Sri Lanka’s export industries the visit to the Spice Garden and the Gem Museum will be an exciting experience for you. Moreover this will indeed be an opportunity to learn about Sri Lanka’s rich agriculture and geological treasures.

Temple of the Tooth Relic

Temple of the Tooth relic, located in Kandy, is a must visit religious and historical landmark in Sri Lanka. Built in the late 16th century, the temple’s architecture portrays the rich traditions and culture in the form of carvings, murals and woodwork that will surely make you feel awed by its intricateness. Sacred fountains and courtyards around the temple, the golden roof and the inner shrine housing the sacred relic are some of the highlights of this temple.

Seetha Amman Temple

This is a Hindu temple nestled in Nuwara Eliya surrounded by a greenery and mountainous landscapes. Seetha Amman Temple is sacred as it is a temple dedicated to Goddess Seetha -the wife of Lord Rama. Apart from the vibrant architecture, including carvings and statues the natural beauty that surrounds the premises is worthy of high admiration.

Nine Arch Bridge

Nine Arch Bridge, recognized as a marvel of colonial engineering in Ella, is one of the most visited hotspots in Sri Lanka. Without a single piece of steel the bridge has been constructed connecting two mountains only by using bricks and cement, thus emphasizing the smart engineering abilities at the time. The scenic walk that leads you to this railway bridge is also another highlight of this whole experience.

Ravana Pool Club

This scenic retreat, located in Ella facing the Ella Rock, is another must visit location in Ella. It is a place that blends nature with excitement and relaxation, making it a favourite of most locals and tourists. Lounge areas for relaxation, infinity pool for a refreshing experience, bar and restaurant facilities with a variety of food and drinks and the scenic surroundings are what make this premises a place filled with fun and entertainment.

After spending some days experiencing the cool and misty climate in Sri Lanka we will be heading to several destinations with a relatively hot climate. So better be ready with comfortable clothes to match the sunny climate on the upcoming days of the tour.

Day Six will be entirely dedicated to the journey to Yala. On the way we will be making some stops at two locations –Ravana Cave and Ravana Waterfall. Day Seven will require you to start the day early in order to take an adventurous ride to the Yala National Park.

Ravana Cave and Ravana Waterfall

Both these locations portray the natural beauty of Sri Lanka that is also blended with rich cultural and mythological significance. Cave and the waterfall are linked to a mythological character known as King Ravana who comes in the legendary story “Ramayana”. The brief hike that leads to the cave is indeed exciting and you will be able to witness the scenic views of the surroundings.

Yala National Park

If you are a nature lover or a wildlife photographer this will be your day of the tour. Early morning we will be heading to the Yala National Park on a Jeep. This will be the perfect time to spot wildlife such as leopards, water buffaloes, deer, elephants and wild boars as they come out in search of food and water. Also the mountainous landscapes, open grasslands and water holes will make this safari ride an unforgettable one.

Starting from Day Eight we will be seeing a lot of sandy beaches along the way to our next destinations. Here is what we will do in the last three days of our Sri Lanka tour.

Whale Watching at Mirissa

One of the most adventurous and exciting activities in our itinerary will be whale watching. On Day Eight we will start our day early to hop into a large double decker boat to sail a few miles into the deep blue sea. In this ride you will be able to spot blue whales, sperm whales, dolphins and other water animals. Apart from spotting whales the scenic views of the wide ocean will also be a memorable experience for you.

Fun and Adventure at Bentota

Post our whale watching ride, we will be heading towards our next destination–Bentota. We will offer a variety of exciting activities for you to indulge in starting from a Safari Boat ride in the Madhu River to a visit to the Bentota River to engage in water sports such as jet skiing, banana boat rides, canoeing and kayaking. This will surely keep you more pumped up until the end of this 10-days tour.

Turtle Hatchery Visit

Apart from fun and entertainment we will not forget to give the chance to learn about facilities that are solely dedicated to the conservation and care of turtles. Turtle Hatchery located in Kosgoda is another popular location, mostly visited by tourists for the service it provides for the entire world. This is one of the best places for you to witness the procedures associated with conservation of turtles.

Colombo City Tour

Last but not least, Day ten will be entirely dedicated to a city tour of the commercial capital of Sri Lanka. This day you will be escorted to several places including religious places, historical landmarks and popular tourist hotspots in Colombo. Also we will not forget to give you some time to go on a shopping spree at a popular shopping mall in Colombo.

Apart from what is mentioned above we will let you spend some relaxed time on the beaches at Mirissa, Bentota and Colombo, hopefully witnessing the beautiful sunsets in Sri Lanka.
