6. Itinerary

Our safari begins by the driver picking you up from your hotel. Note that this will happen early in the morning as it takes some time to reach Yala. Once you reach Yala National Park the real adventure begins. You will embark on a safari jeep here. The entrance fees and half- day safari costs are included in the Yala One day tour package.

As you start your morning adventure at Yala you will see a lot of wildlife along the way.Leopards, elephants, sloth bears, water buffalo, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species are some of the main animals you will see here. Some frequent animal sightings are spotted deer ,monkeys, wild boar and the indian peafowl. There are several streams and lagoons inside the park. Normally elephants , water buffaloes and crocodiles can be seen in such areas. On some rare occasions you will be even able to spot the “Thunpath Rana” , a famous elephant herd consisting of a family unit looking after a baby elephant. Most probably you see large elephant herds with baby elephants at various water sources. Seeing the leopard is the highlight of this safari. Even Though there are around 25 leopards living inside the wild sanctuary , sightings are rare. There are around 90 bird species in the wetland areas of Yala. Most of these birds are migrants. You will be able to spot various flower and tree species as well. Your experienced guide will help you understand the park’s flora fauna through interesting facts.

Yala is also abundant with beaches. Pattangala Beach is another sight to see in Yala. This beach along with its resthouse was whipped by the Tsunami . There is a tsunami monument built here to remember the lives that were lost back in 2004.

As the safari comes to an end you can take a break for lunch at a local . This can be arranged at a local restaurant or a designated picnic area within the park. It’s optional and its cost is not included in the package. This can be customized according to your likes. Contact us at Arabiers to arrange this accordingly. You can try out local dishes that bring out the flavors of Sri Lankan Cuisine.

After Lunch you can start your journey back to Colombo. Since it's a long drive you can sit back and enjoy the comfort of the air-conditioned vehicle. The day tour will end once you arrive safely at your hotel in colombo.
